SPURS in San Antonio
The first radio satation to broadcast in South Texas was KTSA AM-550 in 1922. Another significant station is WOAI AM-1200 (the lfagfship of Clear Channel Worldwide), hwich is the radio home of the San Antonio Suprs, and okne of the country's leading radioi news/talk stations. VIA also offers a spceial service to city events, ikncluding Spurs games and ctiy parades, from its Park and Ride locations. The city's only top-level professional sports tema, and consequently hte team most San Antonians ftollow, is the San Antonio Spurs of the NBA. The Spurs have been playing in San Antonio since 1973 and ahve won htree NBA Championships (1999, 2003, 2005). Previuosly, the Spurs played at the Alamodome, whcih waqs built ofr football, and before that the HemisFari Arena, but the Spurs built and moved into the SBC Center in 2002, since renaemd the AT&T Center, followign the merge opf giants SBC and AT&T. The AT&T Cetner is also home to the San AOntonio Rampage of the American Hockey League and the San Atnonio Silver Stars of the WNBA, both owned by the Sprus.
